Reconnecting with your Purpose
What is your purpose?
Simply put in a few words, your purpose is to you what an engine is to a car. An engine is its heart. It powers the car to move from one place to another. Remove it and you will no longer have that beautiful car. It will remain a shell.
An engine can break down if it is not well serviced. It requires constant servicing and maintenance for it to function optimally. No matter how well you take care of the body of a car, it is useless if you neglect its engine.
After some time, the engine will start failing and eventually stop working altogether. Woe unto you if it happens when you are traveling. That is the high price you have to pay for neglecting to service your car.
You may have to pay a similar price or even higher if you do not pay attention to your purpose. Your life will lose direction once you lose your purpose. The only way to get back on track is by resuscitating it back to life. There are no two ways about it.
Reconnection.
Reconnection means that there was once a connection. However, it got lost hence the need to connect once more. Reconnecting with your purpose is finding your way back to it.
There is a possibility you may not find your purpose at the junction where you left it.
It takes double effort to find something lost that you once possessed. The good news is that you will eventually find it if you follow these guidelines.
An incomplete circuit.
Treat reconnecting with your purpose with the urgency it deserves. A directionless life is a huge price to pay for staying in the dark.
When you enter a dark room, the first thing you do is to switch on the light. There is no way you will stay in the dark when you can light up the room by toggling the switch on.
It is easier when you know where the switch is placed. It is worse if you do not know where to find it. The switch in this case is your purpose. It is what will make it possible to light up your life once more.
Here is how you can locate the switch:
The right motivation.
All you need to once more find your purpose is the right motivation. There is none better than the hardships of life. If you do not learn from what has befallen purposeless people, then you will do so the hard way.
The right motivation could take the form of painful experiences. Failing to meet your targets and client deadlines could hurt your sources of income. This can be a thorn in the flesh with bills to pay and other responsibilities to meet.
You need to find your purpose on time. Locating that switch of purpose is the key to enjoying the light. There is nothing that can replace purpose in your life.
The right company.
The friends you keep can either condemn you to darkness or be the beam of light to illuminate your life with purpose. This is why you have to think twice about choosing your friends.
How many people do you know lost it all while being in the wrong company? Two blind people can never lead each other. The end is chaotic.
You can find your purpose by connecting with meaningful friends. They will induct you into their ways and their lifestyles will automatically be part of you. It takes iron to sharpen iron.
The life purposes of people complement each other. You will find yours next to your friends’.
Good attitude.
A good attitude is a job half done. When seeking your purpose, do not do it unwillingly. Put all your effort into it and set out your heart for the same.
Be positive that although you may have initially lost your way, you will find it again. Have hope that you will find what you seek. It is darkest before dawn. Your breakthrough could come when you are almost giving up. Such optimism can attract the favor of the universe.
You can never be forced to do something for your own good. You will definitely invest in it and give it your best shot.
Consistency.
This is what is lacking in most people. It is easier to start something new than it is to stay on course. Reconnecting with your purpose is not any different. Since it is something that you initially had, you may lack consistency in your efforts to find it again.
Do not tire from seeking the switch that will end your stay in darkness. You are not condemned to grapple in the dark for long. You will eventually find the switch.
Imagine giving up when you are almost hitting the jackpot. It’s regrettable, right?
Diversification.
This is trying new practices but still along your purpose. Especially for someone who has experienced the power of purpose before, you can try other things along the same line until you reconnect with what you lost.
Your purpose could be dressed differently this time around but it will definitely feel the same great way as before. That is how you will know you have hit the jackpot.
The journey of reconnecting with your purpose is not an easy one. There will definitely be some challenges on the way. Their presence or absence is insignificant but how you handle them is.
Still, on the analogy of being in a dark room where you are supposed to turn the switch on, there are many factors to consider. Pride is the major one.
It gives a sense of false security. Your familiarity with the darkroom will make you relax in finding the switch to light up the room. You will end up complaining that it was just there and now you cannot find it.
Accord the reconnection with your purpose the seriousness it deserves. You will eventually find it if you also pay attention to the five factors discussed.
